Frequently Asked Questions
This FAQ is for farmers participating in Boomitra’s URVARA Project in India. It explains how carbon credit payments work, our monthly payment system, required banking information, vesting, and what to do if there are issues with your payment. If you have additional questions, please contact your local project partner.
Now that the Project has issued credits, what happens next?
Once credits are issued, Boomitra begins selling them to buyers. As sales are completed, payments are distributed to farmers according to your vesting schedule. (Please see the vesting section if you’d like more details on vesting).
What determines how many credits I earn?
Your credits are based on how much carbon your soil has sequestered during the monitoring period as a result of adopting improved agricultural practices.
How is the credit price decided?
Credit prices depend on market conditions and buyer interest. Boomitra always aims to sell credits at the highest possible price based on their quality and impact.
How many credits have you sold from this project?
We’ve already sold more than 75% of the credits from URVARA’s first monitoring period, and our sales team is actively working to secure buyers for the remaining volume.
What is a monitoring period?
A monitoring period is a specific block of time—typically 1 to 5 years—during which Boomitra measures how much carbon your soil has removed from the atmosphere. All the carbon improvements that happen during this timeframe are recorded in a monitoring report.
This report is then reviewed by an independent third-party auditor, and once the results are verified, the carbon credits for that monitoring period are officially issued.
The length of a monitoring period is determined by the project's methodology and the rules of the carbon standard (for URVARA, the SocialCarbon Standard). Boomitra defines the exact monitoring period within those rules.
For the URVARA project, the first monitoring period covers four years: 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The soil carbon improvements across all four years are combined into the first set of credits issued for the project.
How can I track progress on credit sales?
Boomitra will display a simple progress bar in the Boomitra Farmer App showing the percentage of credits sold from the monitoring period. As more credits are sold, future payment amounts increase.

When will I receive my payments?
Farmers are paid after Boomitra sells carbon credits to a credit buyer and receives payment for those credits. Payments to farmers are made on a quarterly schedule, based on when Boomitra receives payment from the credit buyer:
- Credits sold and paid for between January 1 and March 31 will be paid to farmers by April 30
- Credits sold and paid for between April 1 and June 30 will be paid by July 31
- Credits sold and paid for between July 1 and September 30 will be paid by October 31
- Credits sold and paid for between October 1 and December 31 will be paid by January 31 of the following year
What if my bank information is not verified when the quarterly payment cycle starts?
If your account is not verified in the app when payments begin processing, your payment will be moved to the following quarter.
What if I change my bank account information?
If you update your account during the one-week period before payments are processed, the change will apply to next quarter's payment, not the current quarter.
How will I know if a payment is coming?
You will receive a notification in the Boomitra Farmer App when your payment is initiated.
I did not receive my payment. What should I do?
Please check:
- That your bank details in the app are correct
- That your account is verified
If everything is correct and you still did not receive funds, contact your local field representative/partner or Boomitra support.
Can payments be reversed or corrected?
If a mistake occurs, contact your field officer/representative immediately. Corrections are possible depending on bank processing rules.
Why didn’t I receive a payment this quarter?
You may not receive a payment for the current period for one of the following reasons:
- Your bank or payment details are incomplete, incorrect, or were updated less than one week before the payment processing date
- Your identity verification or farm information is still under review
- Your payment was rejected or delayed by your bank
- No carbon credit sales were completed during the previous period
- Credits from your most recent monitoring period are still undergoing third-party verification and are not yet available for sale

What is the vesting schedule?
Payments are distributed over time according to the vesting schedule in your participation agreement. This supports long-term land stewardship and aligns with how carbon credits are sold.

Why do you use a vesting schedule?
Vesting helps ensure project integrity, supports ongoing monitoring, and matches the timing of carbon credit sales.
Will I receive a statement or breakdown of my payment?
Yes. The Boomitra Farmer App will show the details of your payment, including how many credits were sold and how much you earned.
